Next week, the regular Tuesday’s Tricksters will return, but I wanted to start a new series of just two (maybe sometimes three) words that a lot of writers confuse. Spellcheck is useless with them, as with any homophone; it can tell you if you’ve spelled a word correctly but not if you’ve used the word correctly!
I hope by showing just two (maybe three) words at a time, you’ll be able to focus on them and decide if you’re really using them correctly. Remember you can always check the words in a dictionary such as YourDictionary.com, a good online one because it includes three other dictionaries’ definitions besides its own, to find variations on my definition.
Your thoughts on this and anything else I’ve posted are always welcome!
